Paõ de Azucar is one of Rio’s main attractions; two mountains standing high in the middle of the carnival city. You can take two cable cars to arrive to the highest point, but we decided to hike the smaller mountain and then take only one of the cable cars. Monkeys were following us the whole way.
The views are spectacular, actually just two days before some views from Rio are now considered Patrimony of Humanity by the UNESCO.
Even though the hike was short, it was uphill with a 45 degree inclination, yeah it might not sound as much but when a big samba night awaits, it is a killer. More about that in our next blog entry…
Very interesting your blog.
“Papa Edi” and “Mama Ingrid” learn to read english. I try to read the spanish texts. Lucia and her parents try the german texts. Only Bernd can read them all : )
Interesting concept the “trilingual blog”.
Go on on your trip, and do some crazy things (like selling cooking powder in the favelas). HAve fun…
Thomas
So Papa Edi and Mama Ingrid will know English until we are back? Some places we are staying are crazy enough, no necessity to put the point on the i 😉
Have fun too in Vlbg. How’s summer there?
